ChatGPT can write a complete web page in seconds, but it hands you a block of code, not a website. To share it, you need to put that code online as a link. The quickest way: ask for one self-contained HTML file, then paste it into a page host like DropMyPage and you get a link and a QR code straight away.

Below is the whole process, plus fixes for the problems people hit most often.

Step 1: Ask for a single HTML file

Most broken AI pages come from the code being split across files. Add this to your prompt:

Make this as one self-contained HTML file. Put all CSS inside a <style> tag and all JavaScript inside a <script> tag. Use only images from public https:// URLs.

If ChatGPT already gave you separate style.css and script.js files, ask: "Combine everything into one HTML file."

Step 2: Check it before you share

Copy the full code, from <!DOCTYPE html> to </html>. Paste it into an HTML viewer to see the page right away. Check two things:

  1. Does it look right on a phone? Switch the preview to phone width. Most people will open your link on a phone.
  2. Do the buttons and links work? Click through anything interactive.

If something is off, describe the problem to ChatGPT ("the menu overlaps the title on mobile") and paste the new version.

Step 3: Publish it as a link

  1. Open DropMyPage and choose Paste HTML.
  2. Paste the code and tap Create link.
  3. You get a short link, a QR code and a Send on WhatsApp button.

That's it. No account, no hosting plan, no domain. Free links stay up for 7 days, which is plenty for an event page, a class quiz or a quick demo.

Common problems and fixes

Problem Why it happens Fix
Images don't show The code points to files on your computer (images/logo.png) Use full https:// image links, or ask ChatGPT to use placeholder images from the web
Page has no styling CSS was in a separate file Ask for one self-contained file with a <style> tag
Buttons do nothing JavaScript was in a separate file, or was cut off when copying Copy the whole response; ask for one file with a <script> tag
Only part of the code was copied Long answers sometimes stop mid-way Ask ChatGPT to "continue", then paste the full combined code
A login form is rejected Pages with password fields are blocked on many hosts to prevent phishing Remove the password field; for real logins you need a proper web app

What kinds of pages work well

Single pages work best: a landing page for a small business, a birthday or wedding page, a quiz for students, a product mock-up, a price list, a portfolio, or a report. If you want something without writing a prompt at all, start from a template instead: menu, link in bio, invitation or resume.

FAQ

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You copy the code ChatGPT gives you and paste it. The only skill is checking that it looks right.

Can I change the page after sharing it?

On DropMyPage's free plan you can delete a link at any time. Editing a page while keeping the same link is part of Pro, which is coming soon. Until then, you can paste the new version and share the new link.

Is the page public?

Anyone who has the link can open it, but it isn't listed anywhere or shown in Google. Don't put private information on it.

Does this work with Claude or Gemini too?

Yes. Any tool that gives you HTML code works the same way. Read more in sharing a page made with AI.
